Ive been having this problem with my 87 n/a automatic and I have been searching for a solution for a while. I got no codes, and have changed the transmission filter, as well as the transmission fluid.
When I have the car in D befor or after its warmed up I can floor it and it will go through 1st pretty quick then it goes straight to 3rd gear and so on. If I manually put it in 2 then to D after it goes through second the tranny works perfectly.
Toyota (they checked out the whole vehicle)said the Line Pressure Cable needed to be replaced. So I went ahead and purchased a new one and installed it. Still nothing.
I went ahead and adjusted all the cables on the throttle body still no luck. Checked the connections to the transmission and nothing. Im about to go get an ohm meter to test solenoids and the TPS sensor. I have been doing alot of searching but so far no luck. Im hoping someone has delt with this befor or can point me in the right direction. Thanks
Also some more things to note. When driving and trying to keep a steady speed the rpms seem to pulse very slightly and its almost not noticeable. This happens infrequently though but I thought it was worth mentioning.
