To reassemble my self, or not... that's the question.

Should I assemble it myself to make sure everything is clean, and tolerances double checked? Or should I let them to it and trust their work? They are a good reputable machine shop here in town. What would you do?

I have my shortblock at the machine shop. Just going with stock stuff no exotics inside. I had to go 10 under on the rod and main journals on the crank. I'm having the rods resized & shot peened. I was told there was 3thousandths wear on the bores so I have to go .020 over. Rotating assembly balanced. I'm having the block decked w/timing cover just to get a clean surface. Oil pump shaft bearings replaced. Clevite rod/main/thrust bearings... I know they're not "real" clevites.

Here's another question... BRASS freeze plugs!? Are they ok? I thought with two dissimilar metals that would cause galvanic corrosion (rust). I thought going with steel plugs would be better. Machine shop is telling me that brass are better, but I raised the question about corrosion. They said it's up to me which ones I want to use. Which should I use guys?
