im tired of shitty pics. if you will direct your attention to my dead fly thread, you'll see that it takes some of the worst closeups even with closeup mode on. the 2mp doesnt cut it any more.

im looking for suggestions on a new camera, preferably canon, but ive heard great things about sony too. anyone have a testimonial or a few suggestions? if you could post a pic or two from the cam it'd be most helpful.

I use a Canon Powershot S1 IS, I love it! Oh also, in your search, don't focus on the megapixel of the camera. That only matters when printing pictures. The higher the megapixel rating of the camera, the bigger the picture you can print. Mine is only a 3mp camera.

looks like the choice right now is falling between the canon a540 and the canon a610/a620

I have a shitty HP right now. It has flash and no flash for options lol. Also has an awesome 5 minute battery life.

I had a Sony cyber shot for awhile but it took shitty night pics.

I dont like sonys too much since theyre more of a trendy person camera.

I like Olympus and Fuji so far, I havent tried a Cannon yet.

Whatever you get make sure it has a lithium ion battery so you dont have to keep nuying AA's.

If you want quality, get a digital SLR. You can get used Canon Rebels for $325 with a zoom lens.

These were taken with a Canon D30, which is very old. The rebel takes even better quality pictures.

matt, great pics. ive got two old school canon ae-1s. i just want a digicam that i can snap around with, something thin but can still get decent to great closeups for those times when i have to ask "where the hell does this hose go"
