ticking noise

alright in cali, bay area it is very hot right now...i ran into a problem on my supra..it started when the weather started to be hot...one day everything is fine..and the next day i start to hear a clicking noise in the eninge..not loud but you can notice it on idle..like tock tock tock..i dont know if it is a rod knock..but my friend said it could be my lifters or valves..and all i need is new oil to get rid of the junk inside the engine..so any suggestions what this noise is or what i should do?

Check your spark plug wires? Are they all seated correctly? Mine mad a valvetrain type noise that I even thought was a rod knock untilll I noticed plug #5 wasnt seated all the way...

Also yeah. Its hot here. Run a thicker oil deffinately. Im goin 10-40 and it hasnt burnt any so far.

could be ticking from improper shim clearances. its a pain to check and change them, but gotta do it sometime. Mine does it also, just dont have time to change them
