i searched through all of the posts but couldn't find the answer i was looking for. My dimmer switch blew out and fried the transistor. there are posts saying how you can jump it and the lights will work, there are others saying that you shouldn't do that, and there are others yet saying that you can do that but fuse the line w/ a 7.5. I got a new dimmer switch, plugged it in and still lights no worky. i want to try to narrow the problem down using the old dimmer so i don't blow out the new one. can anyone give me an affirmative answer?

I jumped mine today and it fried a 20amp fuse, definitely a short somewhere.. Your best bet is to grab a DMM and do some continuity testing...
