Starter?

Went to go drive my supra a couple miles to get my brother, just to move it around a bit.

Turned the key. No start, alot of clicks, the rpms got up to like 400 or sumthin (didnt start) and the car vibrated slightly. I turned the key w/o the clutch in and heard a click in the back (normal?) And w/ the clutch in got that same click in back + a million fast ones.

So um... sound like a starter? With a gear that wont pop out? Please say no and thats its something easy cuz I heard starters are a bitch on these :icon_mad:

sounds like starter to me but first clean all your grounds just incase theres an earthing problem. Also check out the uk site for the starter relay mod

Could be the starter. But with the clicks, it sounds like a dying battery. But if you think its the starter have someone hit the starter while you turn the key.

The voltage did seem a bit low, but with a dead battery, every car I've seen will still try to crank.

The reason I think its the starter gear stuck inside is because my rpms raised up to about 400 on my tach... and i felt the car vibrate.. but no turning over or anything.

Makes me think the gear is just spinning inside the starter? I might have someone try to start it while i hit it with somethin lol

careful not to put a hole in the starter when we were trying to get my 87 running my dad used a peice of wood and a hammer to hit it and put a hole in the side of the case.
