I have a jdm a340e out off a cressida. with a supra extension housing. 4.3 lsd
my question is, did they change the gear on the out put shaft or did they change the driven gear? and can i put any gear into the tranny (regardless if it reads right or not)?

thanks

If your rear end, for example, is a 3.91, and the driven gear in the tranny is for 4.30, you would need the driven gear for an A340E, geared for 3.91 (all turbo auto models IIRC). If you have a 3.73 then a 3.91 driven gear would give you the closest speedometer reading

so your saying, that all the gears on the out put shaft are the same and that the speedo gears themselves change? i know i need a 4.3 gear as that whats in the diff. i just want to know if it will work with a jdm tranny out put shaft

the reason im asking is because i drove on this tranny for less than three hours and the gears seems to have striped. I checked all the cables, there good, i checked the gauge it self its good as well. i also dropped the tranny oil and ran it through a filter, tiny plastic pieces. i jacked up the back end and while looking at the gear, i spun the tires and the gear didn't turn. i presently cant get the gear out (no space to work on it till next weekend).
