88 NA. I am going to be doing some extensive tuneups to my engine soon. I have only had it for a few months and have gone through absolute hell replacing various parts of the wiring harness (If I only requested to remove most of the cars interior to glimpse the wiring I would have not made the purchase). Its all stock except for the exhaust. Anyhow on with the post.

I wanted to know where people go for most of the replacement bolts/screws for the valve covers? There are a few other places I would like to completely replace screws/bolts with new ones but I cant reocall them right now.

Where can I buy brand new VSV's I know for sure I need the EGR one and the A/C coolant valve one. I really dont have the ability to test anything where I live atm since all my tools are back where I used to live in storage till I get on my feet out here so I would rather buy them new unless they are a complete ripoff.

New ISC valves or TPSs?

Possible to reseal the oil pan with engine in car? I dont see how. Ive only done it once on an MKIII and the engine was on a stand.

I have a lot more ?s but I will refrain to just these for now and get back to my TSRM. I hope to gather all the items I need and then accomplish everything I set out to do in a whole weekend...

For the valve cover bolts:

M6 bolts, thread pitch 1.00

Found at your local hardware store. I got mine at an Ace hardware. I think Home Depot should have them as well.

Make sure to get a flange bolt:

Take care not to overtighten them as you'll now be able to actually put some force into it. ;)

Use the search button for leaking valve covers, not to long ago there was a post about that and the bolts they used.
New VSV, EGR's etc are dealer items, along with the ISC and TPS. All of these will give you sticker shock direct from a dealer. Some guys have mentioned Champion Toyota, in cali I believe. See it they have a web site to order those if you have to. I would buy a cheap ohm meter and do as many checks on those items as possiable. One item will pay for it if it checks out OK. Check out the for sale section here, a lot of guys part out and the ISC, TPS, etc you can get fairly cheep.
Yes you can reseal the pan with it in the car. You have to remove the center sub-frame brace, remove the large nut on the motor mounts from the bottom of the car, there is a hole in the frame to allow access to them. If I remember right, I took the bolts loose from the tranny mount also. Then you jack up the motor as far as you can into the firewall. Clearence is a little tight, and you have to remember the oil pump pick up is in a alcove in the bottom of the pan. Most times, from the factory, all they used was RTV sealant. Clean the pan good, wipe the mating surfaces with acetone, mek, something like that, put your new RTV sealant(not too much as it could let loose on the inside of the pan and block your oil pickup screen. Bolt it back on follow the TSRM, don't over tighten the bolts as you can distort the pan and you'll get to do it all over again. :nono:
It's a little tough to do but it's easier than pulling the motor. Just make sure not to slide the pan on when you have the RTV on. There's a way to put that on right also the TSRM tells you. Good Luck.:icon_bigg

Thx guys. Much appreciated. I already have the ohm meter. I would rather not buy anything unless I need to thats for sure. Anyone else got any input for me?
