There is a guy around here that is selling a late 80's celica for only $300. The car runs but the body is fairly trashed. I have a friend that is into body shop and could do a full body repair and paint job for like $800. I just thought I'd see what you guys thought before buying.:1zhelp:

Sorry I posted in wrong section.

Lets see some pics. Auto tranny or manual? And is it gonna be a good paint job or a 80$ special like some idiot had on mine?
It will be a quality paint job. Basically it will be at cost. He specializes in show car quality paint jobs so that is what I will get. Plus he is already going to be painting 2 of my other cars. As for the pics I probably won't be able to get any for a few days if at all. My mom just called me and told me about it. She saw it at Home Depot and when she went back outside to look at it again for me to get specifics she said it was gone, so I'll have to call the guy tonight. So we know it runs for sure. I'm guessing it is a stick which is what I want but I don't know for sure. I will post more info as I get it.

If I had the chance I would do it. I mean its 300$. It would make a good DD lol. And if your gonna get some good paint and the body fixed up. Hell. But your deffinition of banged up may not be as extreme as what your mom says banged up is.

I just got off the phone the guy. It is an '87 GT, it has 227,000 miles and will need the following:
water pump
CV joint
Power steering pump
and all tires are bald

And according to him the drivers side cosmetically is fine but passenger side is a different story.

Bald tires= fun burnouts. How bad is the passengers side? All the pumps and such can be obtained at junk yards (aside from the water pump. Might as well go new on that).

Oh I forgot to add that it does have a manual tranny:biglaugh:
It does have a lot of miles on it though so I'm not sure if it will be worth it to spend $1200 making it look good and then have yo invest in a rebuild shortly after. Or what if the engine goes before I even get it looking good. I don't have enough money for a rebuild so I don't want to buy it and then it dies shortly after.

I decided that I won't buy it, I forgot that it also needed struts which can also get pretty expensive.
