I just found out that the exhaust side is leaking oil on to the manifold.:3d_frown: Engine bay smoke FTL. What other things/gaskets usually become a problem in that area? I'm gonna grab some MSD wires and NGK Iridiums for a tune-up, but I just want to see what else I should probably replace now, rather than letting it become a problem later.

Before you think this is a noob question, know that I've replaced mostly all my hardened hoses and all visible leaking parts and whatnot. I'm talkin about main things in that specific area that cause problems, not just the broad question of "what should i replace in my 7m so it isn't a p.o.s.????".

Cliff Notes: What should I replace besides valve cover gaskets while I'm in that area?

Seal washers. You should also upgrade those P.O.S. Phillips head screws to something like a bolt.

Yeah I know about the screw upgrade. Seal washers? You mean like grommets?

Yeah. Most of the time, when you buy a gasket set, they are included. Not if you buy gaskets individually, though.

Ohhh ok, got it. Yeah, I'm buying the VC gaskets from my local parts store (set of two) and then they have to order the grommets seperately. Thanks for the suggestions.

Some people say to use some kind of sealant when upgrading the VC screws... yes or no, and what kind of sealant are they taking about?
