Hey.

Just been driving a little after the GE->GTE swap. After a little while there are starting to come some rattle noises, first it sounded like the fan was hitting something, as it went of at higher RPM, and it was definitely not rod knock. Then it got a little louder. So I looked all over the fan, and found out that it is actually comming from the water pump.

What in the water pump can be causing a rattle? Is it just to swap the water pump and it's ok?

Thanks,
Scott

Maybe the pump's bearings are bad. You can try replacing the pump with the one from the 7MGE to verify the source.

ps- oops- thought you were saying you just did the swap. my bad.

Turn the engine off and grab a hold of the fan, and try to rock it back and forth. If the fan moves around you have worn bearings in the pump. Also, check to make sure your crank pulley bolt is tight.
