how can you tell if your tranny is a r154?

If you lift it, you'll blow out two discs. If you only blow out one, it's a W58.

The R154 has two black inspection/ access covers, one on each side of the bellhousing. The W58 has none. That's the most obvious visual difference.

Does it feel like shifting a truck, if yes then its an r154, if no its a w58.

your profile says turbo, so you have a r154.

its MUCH larger in size then a w58

yeah the w58 looks really small thats for sure hehe and it is light, lighter than the r154 and about 1/2 the weight of a 2jz auto Lol

All my r154 have shifted very nice and smooth. But like he said, they're very heavy (= stout) and have 2 access covers.

#1 is where the throw out bearing is mounted. Your going to need all new washers and snap rings for the whole throw-out bearing assembly, I didnt buy new ones and my hub assembly fell apart when I was driving, had to pull the tranny and fix it a few weeks after installing a Spec Stage 3.

It only goes in one way. You should put it in after you've tightened the pressure plate to the flywheel through the access panel.
