Quick Question - can a 2jz or 1jz bolt up to a stock 87' 7mgte auto?

Hello,

Just a quick question here. I'm buying a 87' with a blown motor but the car still has a good working order transmission in it. Can I simply bolt up a 1jz motor or a 2jz motor (na or tt) to the stock 87 auto? I just need to get this thing running so I can keep it at my place.

Thanks in advance! May be picking the car up tonight if I can do this.

Not without the proper bell housing.

1jz autos are pretty easy to source tho. And cheap.

Would I be able to keep the stock auto thats in my 87 7mgte if I get an appropriate bellhousing?

edit: I have a 2jzGE waiting to go in the car.

The steps for getting the auto to work on the 2jz-GE should be the same as the GTE.
