I just took my Idle Speed Control Valve off today because I have replaced my vacuum hoses and my car is still idling real low and shutting off. My question is, can I soke the whole valve assembly including the black piece on the end that the wiring harness connects to in gasoline, or can that part not get wet or what? By the way, that whole assembly has some bad nasty resin on it so I'm hopin this is my problem.

just use some brake clean or something and clean the little filter out good. mine used to come close to stalling sometimes and i cleaned the filter only and it catches at 1200 rpm all the time now.
Yeah, that bad boy there is black right now, but I'm fixin to soak that, and the rest of the assembly in gas. The stem with the spring around it, and everything else is gunked up to. The only problem is that the Black outermost part that the Wire connection hooks into is attached to the piece with the stem, and I tried to unscrew the seated philips head screws that hold them together, but they are trying to round off on me and since they're seated below the surface I can't grab the bolts with channel locks or anything so I was wondering if I could soak the whole assembly in gas since gas evaporates fast and all.
