is there anyway to tell if the walbro is one of the chinese knock off pumps? i just put a new one in that ran good in another car and took mine out. they had some different numbers on them but they did both say walbro.

Read:

Cliffs: It's damned near impossible to tell the forgery from the real one until it fails on you. The only thing you can go by is the quality of the seller. Don't buy from e-Bay. Don't buy from people who don't have a reputation to protect. Buy from sellers who are reputable, and have a stake in your continued satisfaction. It's the only real thing you can do.

thanks for the help guys. especially that write up you posted supracentral. i just changed mine out, i dont remember where i bought it but my car was running lean on full boost so i figured to be on the safe side. it didnt fix the lean problem but im more comfortable know there is a real walbro in there. i ordered a regulator today to see if that will fix my problem so we will see.

Especially the part about deadheading the pump.

Post your details:

Injector Size
Fuel Pump
Regulator Type
Base fuel pressure (with vac line unplugged)

Lean under boost is usually a pretty easy thing to figure out. Just swapping components out randomly rarely is a cost effective way of troubleshooting.

ya i know but a buddy had another walbro for me to try and i wanted to put a regulator on anyway so i might as well go head and do it. if i didnt have access to it i would have put more effort into trouble shooting
the car has
walbro
57 trim ct26
550cc injectors
its got a stock regulator so whatever stock pressure is

Here's your first problem. Get an AFPR and a gauge on it. If you can't confirm that your base fuel pressure is accurate, nothing beyond that matters.

Stock base fuel pressure is 33 to 40 psi at idle with the hose disconnected. With the hose connected it should be in the 23 to 30 psi range.
