so im going to yank the 1j out to replace the rear main as well as a DM underdrive pulley....

I want to clean up the actual engine bay as well!!!

So my question is should i expect to run into any thing different during the pull???
Ive swapped nissan motors numerous times but as for the 1J:nono:

Any tricks or tips to make this easier???

DON'T INSTALL THE ALUMINUM CRANK PULLEY. They can cause some major problems. Search on the subject and you'll see.

As for cleaning up the engine bay, there isn't a ton you can do if you're still on stock twins other than do a wiring tuck job with is a ton of work and takes some creativity for some of the wiring.

Also if you're just doing the rear main seal, I'm not sure I would pull the motor, just get the car up on stands and pull the transmission and swap the rear main. It would save you a ton of time. If its your first time pulling a 1j I wouldn't attempt to make any huge changes while its out or you could have a difficult time getting it all back together

One more thing... if those are cheapo projector headlights in your avatar, ditch those too, they are absolute junk. Go with a quality Hella H4 setup and some nice halogen bulbs and you're in business.
