hello all, yes i know this topic has been discussed and i have read that some people arnt running coolers at all and others have all kinds of coolers/systems for the powersteering.

im putting a nice FMI and FFIM on my car and am at a decision about the powersteering cooler. the car is mostly street driven but is driven on racetracks regually. is it really needed will the fluid heat up so much that it will boil?

ive got a cooler that i was thinking about using for the Powersteering, if i was to use it would it be a bad idea to mount behind the intercooler? just wondering maybe if the heat from the intercooler would acutally warm up the powersteering fluid?

im at a lost of what to do, yes or no if so where does it go?

Yes they are a benefit when used for road racing. The fluid can boil over depending on the course, how many laps you put down at a time and the temperature outside. That little tube cooler often needs a little more help.

As to the location, you obviously want it in the airflow if possible. If that is behind the intercooler I don't see a big problem, though trial and error may leave you wanting to get a slightly larger cooler for that mounting location as the airflow is warmer, and slower. You could mount it higher up to take advantage of cooler, faster air coming through the upper grille(s) as well depending on where your oil cooler is going to be. If you have a spearco style intercooler, you could also probably use the factory oil cooler for this purpose, and it already has a mounting bracket and is in the airflow.

the intercooler is a custom one..., might think about putting it behind the top grilles actually, ambient temps here dont really get past 25celcus usually anyway

track laps are usually 10laps a peice, what damage could it cause if it overheats? pump sucks air?
