I am having a problem with my power window system. I checked the switches using tsrm continuity diagram and they are good. I also checked both motors and they are working.
Originally the problem was that the windows would work but the passenger window would not go up from both switches (would work occasionally). I measured the voltage across the motor while hitting up and it came to 12v but only .3A, so not enough current was reaching the motor. I searched the forums and found the problem could be fixed by grounding the #3 pin to ground. I spliced into that wire and grounded it.
Now the passenger side window goes up and down via the passenger switch, but will not go down via the driver switch. I get a short circuit when I hit the down button via the driver switch. Also the window lock button does not work. I noticed when I pulled off the drivers switch it was very hot.
Does anyone know what each terminal on the switches are supposed to go to or an idea of how to fix the problem?
