Power steering belt removal

I just helped my girlfriend's brother replace two of his three drive belts (1990 Supra Turbo). We could not figure out the trick on the last one though. We found the bolt that keeps it from pivoting, but after loosening and even removing it the pulley still wouldn't move. Is there another bolt somewhere that needs to be loosened, or did we just need a crowbar and some extra force or something?

Hehe, I didn't need a prybar on mine, the pivot bolt was missing. But yeah, you probably just need some more leverage. I remember it didn't have much room to move the pump though and after I replaced the pivot screw I had work at it to get the new belt on.

There are 2 bolts. One follows a guide and the other is a long pivot bolt. The setup is a lot like the setup on the alternator, only w/o the tensioner.

meh... my p/s pump sounded like a twin screw S/C i figure it was killing about 30 hp, i'll worry about the belt when i get a pump.... they can't cost that much :dunno: :biglaugh:

Thanks. I'm guessing we missed the pivot bolt then. Anyone want to direct me to where that is located? Or a picture could help... :)

the PS pumps cost around $80 at autozone, with a 30$ core charge. IIRC im going down this road soon, no PS FTL
