Passed smog, but HC was fairly high.

I just passed smog with my 86.5 supra. I would have failed the first attempt but the attendant said he'd try again (commenting that a lot of older cars fail on their first run). I did pass on the second attempt but my hydrocabon levels were pretty dang high.

Code:
MAX | AVE | MEAS
124 41 95 @ 15mph
99 29 74 @ 25mph
I just recently replaced my BHG and a bunch of coolant hoses, vaccuum hoses, gaskets all around ( including the fuel injectors ), new plugs and wires, timing belt, and a head rebuild. Car runs great, idles great etc. From what I've read, high hc levels are related to unburned fuel. Would the probable culprit be my fuel injectors not spraying efficiently?

cat converter.

"older cars" generally have older cats on them. the second pass is done when the cat is hotter than the previous attempt

a good idea before doing a sniff-test is to go run the car fairly hard , and get that cat good and hot

I did actually. I ran the car on the freeway in 4th gear at about 70mph (4krpm) for about 10-15 mi, but then i had to wait about 10 minutes before a test bay was available.
