Overheating problem

hey everyone my car has been having problems with overheating, yesterday i only hit boost once and right after that the temp gauge shot up so i pulled over and let it cool off. and drove it to work with no problems. ive already flushed the system with one of those cheap flush kits from walmart. also i thought it was the thermostat so i took off the housing only to discover no thermostat, i dont know why the previous owner took it out or something so i went and bought a new one. im going to go try burping it and see if that helps. cause when i came home from work it was spewing coolant out the overflow tank. i know youre thinking BHG but im sure its not there are no signs, no milky coolant or oil i even had the valve covers off to retorque the head but it was already done. and the oil looked clean. also there is a pretty good sized dent on the intercooler that looked like it was repaired but that is what im going to buy next paycheck. just wondering if that could be the problem? sorry about the long post but thanks for the help.

cliff notes: car overheats, hit boost only one time and temp gauge shot up. recently replaced thermostat and flushed the cooling system with a cheap garden hose kit from walmart. dent in intercooler could this be the problem? coolant comes out the overflow tank as well. oh and also my heater blows cold not sure if this has anything to do with it. thanks for the help again,

edit: forgot to mention previous owner said it was rebuilt.

edit 2: checked and the fan was not original fan and was cut to fit, also the previous owner cut the fanshroud out to fit the fan in. could this be the problem? anyone have a shroud and fan i can buy? im starting a WTB thread.

Do a compression check, I'd be willing to bet that one cylinder is low. For the coolant to be coming out of the overflow it needs to have air force it out. So somwhere in the cooling system air is getting in and forcing it out of the over flow.

I would;
Burp the coolant system
Get a good hose kit
Do a compression check, willing to bet cycliner 3 or 4 is low.

Coolant can also come out from a weak radiator cap. If it does not have adequate pressure, the mixture will boil over sooner.

I had been having this problem for a few weeks. Turns out I have a BHG. I had clean oil and coolant, no milkshake, just slight overheating and some coolant overflow a few times. I replaced the thermostat, fan clutch, did a system flush and put in new coolant. I drove it twice since and it didn't overheat as bad. I let my dad take it for a spin yesterday and he boosted like crazy started overheating, coolant SPEWING out the overflow bottle. Took the oil cap off to find a coolant residue. I think you have a slightly BHG.

yeah im thinkin i have bhg as well. it launched the overflow cap off lol and hosed me down with some hot coolant it sucked. i'll try and run a compression test as soon as i can find my tester, good thing i have another good running vehicle. my uncle also thinks it could be a plugged radiator though.. maybe?

Heater, and Intercooler will not impact anything that severely. A clogged radiator would not have instantly made it overheat like you described.

If the cap checks OK, and you've got a nearly dead hole... well then its a BHG. But I won't jump to conclusion just yet, haha.

BTW, a touch more punctuation and grammar in your posts and they'll be pretty good I'll bet.

I would deffinatly check the radiator cap...simple, cheap fix possibly!

All parts have been made defective and sold new, tho it could be rad cap i'm still leaving my money on a hg. Good luck

check your compression. I give you 99% that it has BHG
