Okay heres the deal, after taking off my intake, im always worrying about whats around the next bend, so im asking if this is regular. My car only ever smokes at startup, but there is oil all over my intake area. Heck it's even in my afm a bit which scares me...
1st picture here is my accordion hose.

Don't worry, that isn't milkshake in there lol, even if it is brown.

and thats the turbo. No bent fins, car didn't smoke under deceleration or acceleration, or idling, just startup. so what can this be in the afm? i am running an apexi air filter, and its brand spanking new. Let me know if anythings to worry about. (keep in mind i don't have a catch can installed yet, even though i have one here) Let me know guys.

how is oil getting to the afm.. interesting.. are your ic pipes coated in oil or is it from you pcv?

I'm going to assume from your turbo cold side.. blown off through your intake which shoots it everywhere..

Looks like you have quite a bit of blow-by oil from the PCV. Have you ever cleaned out your IC? It won't put oil into the intake, but there might be more oil inside the IC than you expect ;)

AFM wise, do you have a K&N filter? Might be over oiling it.
DO NOT clean the AFM sensor probe with carb or brake cleaner. A freon based electronics cleaner (if you can get it) is what you want to use.

i would hope its from the pcv. The afm oil is really having me worried though. My ic pipes are coated with a film, but i understand this is normal, as long as it isn't dripping of it.
As for the filter, its an apex'i, as i heard they were the best. Hmm oily intercooler you say. Well good thing im replacing that POS when im swapping my engine.
As for the cleaner, if i cannot get freon based, what are my other options?

A couple of cleaners that would be safe to use are CFC-12 or HFC-134...otherwise known as Freon 12 & 134.
If you do this, you will be in violation of several parts of the EPA statutes (or whatever it is in Canada) ;)

Any solvent that does not craze plastics will do...be very careful around the sensor. Q-tips and a can of compressed air are your friend.

fuck EPA ;) hehe, i need my afm to be clean inside. i would assume that this could be the cause of my lower idle perhaps. it clogging the instruments! :D

can't you use rubbing alcohol? i always thought that was safest.... yeah i bet your i/c is full, the afm i think is normal for A LOT of miles but i dont know how many miles you have on it, You will get the pcv oil in the intake and that vaporized oil crap just ends up getting everywhere over time, that and all turbo's will see a little surge here and there pushing that oil forward, so yeah my guess is just over time it stained the afm, mine was the same when i first bought my car.

Take out the electronics and and you can spray out the housing with degreaser, and clean the electronics gently with rubbing alcohol, or anything that Jdub said.

You could use 100% isopropyl alcohol...don't use rubbing alcohol, it has too much water in it. Freon would be best...Google "vapor cleaning". If you clean the housing with the electronics removed, just be careful with the honeycomb...it bends easily.
