Ive noticed i have a small oil leak on my 7m. I used to have oil going into the spark plug area but i fixed the allen seals and also fixed the valve cover gaskets. Those are all sealed up and good. When i go under the car i see a small drop hanging from the very bottom of the transmission. I opened the inspection cover and no oil seems to be comming from the main seal. I cleaned everything really good and about a week later i see the little drop again. I see wetness on the top of the bellhousing but so no visiblesigs of where its comming from. Both valve covers are sealed tight but there seems to be some kind of leakage area from the back of the engine where the head meets the block because i can feel under the valve covers and they are not wet. Im wondering if theres any ideas what this could be? Is this a common spot for an oil leak? Is there anything in that area that may be suspected?

I also have aslightly rough idle. When idleing at 700-750 rpm the car tends to shake slightly and doesnt idle as smooth as i would like. I cleaned the throttle body and i have no known vacuum leaks. I will test it for vac leaks tomorrow though. What else could cause a bad idle that seems like it is common on the 7mge if anything?

Thanks for the help.

If you just did the VC's and are sure it's not leaking there, the only place I can think of were it's comming from would be the HG.
Probably need to do a compression test. Have you noticed anything in the oil or coolant?

nope, both are clean as can be, not losing any of either, not fast at least. I did a compression test but only on the number 1 and number 6 cylinders, both were fine although i forgot the numbers

ive done all the sparkplugs with NGK's, left the wires, cleaned the rotor contact and the contacts in the cap. They didnt seem to be especailly worn or anything either. Only thing i havent done is the wires, and i will do a resistance test when i get the chance.

Base timeing is set to 10 degrees BTDC and running on 87 octane.

Resistance check w/ a multimeter isnt always accurate because the properties of the wires can change when you run all of that voltage through it.

You can always look at your plugs and see what the motor is doing.

How is your compression?
