i replaced the head gasket because of crazy compression numbers......160 100 130 120 125 etc. not in that order though. and it's still low. i bought this engine from ebay and it's JDM so it has low miles. so rings would be out of the picture right? that leaves the valves so i want to use my NA head which DID run before i took it out. is there any difference besides the cams? (which is better anyways) this is a JDM turbo engine swap that doens't run into an NA. please help.

You mean you did a JDM turbo swap into an NA chassis?

Gimme more details. Does it crank?

The na cams are mostly the same exepct for the intake cam (I think). You probabaly wont notice a whole lot of difference anyhow.

just cause it's JDM doesn't mean that the engine isn't in need of a rebuild. Those engines sit around for a long time and shit likes to dry up and crack....put oil in the combustion chamber the next time you do a compression test. This will help eliminate rings as a problem. If the rings are gone, then the compression numbers will be higher with the oil in the chamber

ok.....here are the results in order. dry-95 100 55 90 60 155 wet (respectively) 170 170 180 245 200 190. i have a couple of questions. what the hell is wrong with number 4? too much oil i put in maybe? and what could cause the rings to go bad? yes this is a JDM turbo swap into an NA chasis and it does crank. i'm so stumped on how the rings got bad. someone please reply. thank you.

Like Squid said, just cuz its jdm doesn't neccessarily mean that its okay.

When I called around for my GTE swap, one guy told me that some of the engines they get from Japan or elsewhere will sit for up to 3 years before they are sold.

DId you check your timing - cam and ignition? Do you have good spark and fuel to the cylinders?
