My first question is about the tail lights. As long as the battery is plugged up, the tail lights stay on. Does anyone know what this might be?

I just installed a professionally rebuilt engine, from ATK, into my NA 87 Supra. I'm getting really close to the start-up. I wanted some professional advice about breaking in this newly rebuilt engine. I want to do it right because I want to eventually turn it into a NA-T and i don't want any problems with it.
My last question is about going from the auto transmission to a manual. Is it hard to do? Which transmission should I go with? (R154 or W58)

When you say the tail lights stay on, specifically which lights? The brake lights? Check the switch the pedal arm contacts.

As for brake in... just take things nice and easy for the first few hundred miles. Then change the oil filter (shouldn't need to change the oil though). Then take it reasonably easy for the next thousand. Change filter again, and have fun.

During the brake in period keep everything VERY clean and keep a close eye open for ANY signs of oil loss.

There are probably better guides for a break in, but that's the jist of it.

5-spd swaps have been covered in depth here on many occasions, a search of the forum for "5spd swap" should get you the details and parts lists. Here's one thread to get you started: http://www.supramania.com/forums/showthread.php?t=33196&highlight=5spd+swap
