my ABS light is on. what does it mean?

does this mean that they are engaged or that there is something wrong? i have a little yellow-orange Anitlock Brakes light lit-up in my dash. sometimes it is on and sometimes its not.

1989 toyota supra turbo 7m-gte if that matters at all.

Mine's been on since I bought the car. I'm pretty sure it just means that there's a problem with the system, and that ABS won't engage. Which is good, since I don't like the supra's ABS system.

Yea, that means there is a malfunction in the ABS system...Disconnect the check connector by the ABS solenoids (to the left of the charcoal canister) and watch the light blink for codes.
