lower heater hose(into motor)?

ok so im still trying to figure the best way to get at the Lower heater hose coming into the motor.

i see the diagram in the manual but i cant see it when looking at it on the car. anyone whos delt with it, did you get to it from above or below?

as it is i have my heater core bypassed but its spliced and i know its sucking in air/leaking. i want to run a single hose to bypass if i can get to the lower inlet.

oh its an 87 n/a a/t. not sure if its any different on other models....

used heater hose and splice connections. spliced the hose coming out the top(middle) of the motor with the hose coming out of the lower drive side. not a big deal, one of the easiest things ive done lol. it was done in a parking lot in the dead of night when my core blew though.
