If i plan on using Apexi Super AFC NEO controller, do i still need to use a Lexus MAF? Since the AFC modifies the air flow meter/ pressure sensor signal voltage going to the ECU to change the amount of fuel injected. Just trying to learn all this & i just want to get it right.

Thanks,
Jim

Warpath,

You haven't provided enough detail. Is this with 550 cc/min injectors? Give us the rundown on your total mods and we'll be able to give you more accurate answers.

However, one of the main reasons for the Lexus AFM is that it is 25% larger. This will allow you to flow more air, it's not just about the electronics, but also simple fluid dynamics / air flow issues. It will also raise fuel cut so that it does not become an issue.

Also it allow for smaller corrections with your AFC. The fewer corrections you make, the better.

PS - it's an AFM (air flow meter), not a MAF (Mass air flow sensor) - there is a difference.

Thanks for the reply Supra!

Sorry so vague, I should have been more specific. The MAF comment comes from my fox body mustang days yr's & yr's ago and I sometimes I get the acronoynms mixed. lol. But i meant AFM.

What i was trying to ask was since the Lexus AFM manipulates the fuel and air readings to the ecu, should i go ahead and get one if i have a controller that would do the same.

List of mod's;
550cc injectors
TMS 3in Downpipe w/turbo outlet
3" Blitz nur spec cat back
3" test pipe
Godspeed intercooler
walbro 255lph fuel pump
greddy boost electronic controller
Apexi neo fuel controller
arp head bolts
brakes, clutch, etc..

Thanks again for your help & patience,
Jim

Jim, no problem at all. (The AFM/MAF thing is just me being a stickler.. :) )

Here's the logic behind the Lexus AFM.

Your 550 cc/min injectors are about 25% larger than stock. The Lexus is, as I mentioned about 25% larger than stock. This combo gets you back on the stock fuel map with little or no adjustments. The closer you are to the factory map, the better the car will run.

The AFC will simply allow you to "fine tune" the setup. You don't want to start out by using 25% of your adjustment right out of the box. Also as I mentioned, that 25% larger opening lets your motor breathe easier.

Looks like you've got the right mods to support the Lexus AFM / NEO combo.

With a Lexus, the AFC Neo and a little tuning you should be able to run 16-18 psi on the stock CT-26. You've got the mods to support a decent sized aftermarket turbo as well.

Awesome. Thanks for help!!

PS. And i'll throw that MAF sensor away now. :biglaugh:
