A good deal on a Peugeot is when someone steals it at the grocery store so you won't have to drive it home.

Carrying your groceries 2 miles home should be better than driving a 15 year old French vehicle.

405's were okay - what did you want to know? They might have a bad rep in the US, but you still see plenty of them over here. They're just boring looking. Reliability wise, not in the standards of Merc and BMW, but not horrendous, like a Ford :D

In that part of the world, if I had to choose a common, "cheaper" eurocar, I would probably get an Alfa Romeo of some sort. Even still, that's under dire circumstances. The one I drove was very similar in power, comfort and overall feel to a base model Saturn SL, just a tad bit smaller.

Thanks for the input, far better than just a "LOL" with nothing to back it up.
really i just wanted to know what you guys felt about the car. Car guys knows cars. I i was just wondering about reliabity and i guess there was a comment about finding parts. I guess that would be a big issue about owning a car like that. I mean its hard enuff finding parts for a MKIII Supra right? :)

Erm - whats wrong with the fact it's french? Is this some stupid anti-french sentiment or some legitimate reason for disliking their cars?

May i also remind you that Citroen's world rally team has racked up numerous wins, and several manufacturers titles? Renault F1 is one of the best in the world too. French and Japanese car makers sell more cars here than Ford or Vauxhall (Opel in Europe).

There have been some brilliant models as well:

Renault 21 Quadra Turbo (4x4 Turbo 'Sedan')
Renault 5 Turbo (1.4litre Turbo - 140bhp, about 800kg)
Renault Clio RSi
Renault Clio Williams
Peugeot 309 GTi
Peugeot 205 GTi
Peugeot 306 GTi
Citroen ZX Volcane
Citroen Saxo VTR & VTS

Renault also win the highest award for safety - scoring 5 on the Euro NCAP safety ratings for the past 3 years at least. Build quality is still way better than anything ford & gm can muster, and the interiors, while not great, aren't completely tacky and destructable.

Don't bash cars on their country of origin, bash them on their faults, which requires FACTS.

I can count on 1 hand the number that are RWD.

other than that I have no problem with them. the french are infinitely better at building cars than the italians.
