Ignition Stuck...Suggestions?

Guys, shut off the Sup after a mid day run and turned the wheel after the car was off. After about a quarter turn the wheel locked, and so did the ignition, the key cannot be turned past the Lock setting. I tried forcing it as hard as I could before bending the key and that didnt move it to the next position. Any Ideas?

Press the lock button or turn the steering wheel by hand to either of the lock points while turning the key.

Okay, I'll give that a shot, pressing the lock key didnt do it, but I didnt think of turning the wheel, it wouldnt turn any more in one direction, I'll try turning it the other way

Well there should be a "lock point" going left or going right on the wheel. When the steering wheel lock is engauged (sp?) there should be about 1/4" of an inch that you can force the wheel to the left or right. Should free the key right up...

I also suggest a new key to be cut, bent keys = big problems if they break off in a door or ignition

My key isnt bent, i tried forcing the ignition to move, but did not want to bend the key, I've had problems getting copies made, the local Stealership couldn't cut new ones by vin.....finally found a place to make a few copies though

MDC, thanks for the welcome, I have been on these boards a while as a reader, started posting after getting ahold of the very Supra that I used to cruise the strip in all through high school.
