I have searched around a little bit but I haven't been able to find exactly what I am looking for, so I hope this question isn't too dumb. I was just given a wiring harness and ecu from one of the techs I work with at Toyota but he is not sure what year it came out of. I also have two other harness and ecus at home. 2 have grey plugs and 1 has yellow plugs. Now I know that one set will be for pre-89 and one with be for 89+ but I am just not sure which one. Now while I am asking dumb questions I guess I will ask what exactly counts as a pre-89 and 89+? I am asking because I have an 89 car but it was produced in the 12th month of 1988, is it based on the production date or what year the car is labeled as? Thanks in advance!!

Yellow plugs on a harness and ecu mean Pre-89.
Grey plugs on a harness and ecu mean 89+.

Look at the plugs on your dash harness on your car...yellow then its pre-89 and grey if its 89+. That will let you know which ECU and harness to use in your situation.
