heater hose??

ok its the hose in the back of the eninge..the "L" shaped hose..first of all..its called a heater hose right? correct me PLEASE if im wrong..i blew that hose like 4 times already..within 6months?? is there a stronger aftermarket hose that could with stand the heat?..freaking coolant always gushes out..hate it..any solutions?

Actually that is the return line from the head...the longer hose (on top) is the heater hose to the HCV. Blowing that hose 4 times in 6 months is excessive. I would only use a Toyota OEM hose there. If you already are, something else is causing it to blow.

^except for the very tight 90* joints on the engine, i just go to ACE and buy their heater hose and use elbows as needed. Its far cheaper and never blown one yet.

This hose and the one behind the water pump (connects to the same hard pipe) are tight 90 hoses. If either blows, you lose all your coolant in short order. Personally, I'm not going to trust an off-the-shelf generic hose in either location to save a couple of $$$, especially considering how hot it gets due to the proximity of the exhaust manifold.

I have always used Gates rubber for all my belts and hoses. Never had a problem with any of them. They have full listings for all of the hoses on a 7M.

i didn't think so either, untill a weeks after replacing said heater hose, it blew a bypass hose ,coming off the water neck.. car always ran fine
