So i jus got a GREAT deal on a 1987 targa top turbo 5speed. rebuilt with 5k on the motor and a ton of extra parts all for $500:love: All I hd to do is get my own egr valve and wiring harness. I put those in and started it up tonight and it runs like brand new. But the headlights dont work and I know nothing about electrical. The headlights pop up but they dont light up. I checked the fuses and theyre good and I checked the relay and its good. Can anyone help me out?

So neither high beams nor low beams work then?

could happen lol. i would just pull them out. stick a multimeter(or just a test light) in the sockets to see if your getting any power. the diagram above would be good for someone that understands wiring/electrical, he said he isnt inclined.

yea me and electricity dont get along too well. I'm trying to do a basic check and see if it's something easy and obvious, otherwise I'm going to take it to a shop and have it checked out

Got my money on the headlight retractor/retainer module - intergration relay as toyota calls it, blue box under the dash. Mine was doing the same thing until I replaced that.

Actually it runs the relays the supply power to the fuses that give power to the lights. To be more specific it supplies the ground trigger that activates the relay so it can pass power to the lights.

Yea I went throughly through the system when mine were not working, then again because I replaced mine and it did not fix it seems I had two bad units. Third one was the charm and everything worked.

What you want to check op is the power and ground to the lights, if they are not getting power check for power at the fuse if no power at the fuse check at the relay, if the relay does not click when putting it in and out with the lights on then its probably gonna be the ground trigger from the integration relay. If you have power to the lights but no ground then its probably the switch.

so i had a few friends help me try to figure out the issue with my headlights and still no results. i changed the fuses, relay, bulbs, blue box, connectors, everything, and the previous owner said he already replaced the switch. i also replaced the battery and alternator. so i think i'm going to have my friends help me run a separate switch for my lights. i want to rewire my lights so that the blinker switch will make my lights pop up as normal, but i will have my headlights and fog lights rewired to the stock fog light switch.
