Friday night after working a long outdoor gig in 15*F weather (for a parade of all things), I hop into the car to go to the local greasy spoon and get some grub ith the crew. Fire her up and she sounds like CRAP! Sounds like a lawnmower and feels like she's only firing 3ish cylinders, hiccups and burps (small backfires that is) in the exhaust... I limp her the mile or so to the diner, park it, and wiggle some wiring under the hood - CPS, TPS, a few others. Went in to eat, came out and she fired up and ran just fine...

Fast forward to this morning: get in the car to go to work (40ish minute drive), start her, she's running like crap again... wiggle the wiring, got minor but not complete relief of symptoms. Ok, off I go, but a mile or so down the road it's running so bad I decide to turn around and call off work. I pull a U-Turn and happen to look in my rearview as I'm driving away. Lo and behold, there's my resonator lying on the ground in front of the driveway I just backed out of :3d_frown:

Sooo... I limp on down to the local Cole Muffler to get a quote... they put it on the lift and I hear "holy s***!!!" as they peer up under the car. Apparently there's some major rust going on up underneath (sadly, I didn't get to look for myself to find out where) which probably explains the constantly wet back passenger seat which I had been hoping/fooling myself into thinking was just water dropping in from the hatch when I open it... They quoted me $350 to do the exhaust from the cat back, which doesn't seem too bad (less than I expected anyway) but can't get the parts in until next Monday :(

Anyway, I checked codes and got 12, 14, and 41... I've had the 41 for a while - just haven't gotten around to replacing the TPS with a spare I've got... looked up 12 and 14, and wasn't surprised to find out they were for the ignition system given the symptoms hehehe

Just for fun, I pulled the EFI fuse to reset the codes then checked again - this time it was only the code 41. I then ran the engine for a few minutes... it's still running kinda (but not as) crappy, and another check of the codes returned nothing but the code 41.

This car's electrical system has driven me nuts from day 1, and it seems to me that this is just another issue related to wiring... well except for losing part of my exhaust, but I think that's just a badly timed coincidence :biglaugh:

Much as I really wish I had the time, tools, and knowledge to troubleshoot and fix this myself, I know that I'm seriously lacking all of the above, so I'm not really looking for any advice on how to go about fixing the problem(s)... I'm just going to find a reputable shop and have them take care of it... feel free to offer suggestions on who to go to though if you've heard of anyone anywhere near me LOL

Just had to vent a little to people who definitely understand the woes of owning a Supra :naughty:

He's something funny though... When I got the car, I asked her what her name was and immediately "Veronica" popped into my head, so that's what I named her. The night before the problems started, I looked up the name just for fun, and discovered from Wikipedia that:
Veronica is a Latin female given name popularly supposed to derive from Vera Icon (true image).[1] Veronica is, in fact, the Latin form of the Greek name, Berenice.[2] Berenice is derived from pherein (bring) and nikê (victory), meaning "she who brings victory".

I'm thinking that the translation should be more along the lines of "she who brings frustration" :)

Thanks for listening!
