What gauge wire would be sufficient for regrounding the motor and relocation of the battery? I think i read somewhere that the starter puts a rather immense draw on the battery at startup, so what would be a sufficient gauge wire to ensure it gets enough juice? Basically i would like to know appropriate gauges for: Normal grounds/Battery+ and -/Starter/Anything i am forgetting.

While we're on the subject, where did you source your wire from? I have seen welding cable used in the past, but do not know where to purchase it. A wholesale or distributors website? Home Depot doesn't sell anything above a 6G in the form of single stranded wire.

Thanks as always guys. Everybody who responds on the first page wins a "No BHG for a week" pass.

Also, what is the central ground point? The block?

yeah well theres a bit of math here. the longer the cable the bigger it has to be. 4ga works for the short run under the hood, but in the backseat you can get away with 2ga 00 welding cable is best, but you will have to get it from a welding supplier/machine shop. you can also check junkyards for used cables. you will need to made a new power point under the hood to attach to. pretty much a big bolt for the welding wire to attach to, then you can run 4ga (or bigger) from the block down to the starter.

I have 15' of 2GA, and around the same amount of 6GA. I was going to use the 2GA to run from the positive terminal of the battery to the engine bay, and for the negative cable from the battery to somewhere in my hatch. Then i figured i would put a splitter box to the end of the cable in the bay, and run 4GA to the starter, fuse box, and whatever else. I'm going to use the spool of 6GA and hoop connectors to re-do all the factory grounds. Coil packs, all the intake manifold grounds, the one next to the turbo, tranny grounds, etc.
