Gas door broken

Like my other threads polluting the board I am trying to fix up my new to me supra.

The previous owner said the gas door latch is broken, as it will not close and latch anymore.

I don't really see how it latches, I am thinking a piece may have broke off?

Does anyone have a picture of a 100% operating door latch so I can compare to mine so I can start diagnosing it?

I hope this isn't too dumb of a question to ask help for. I was only looking at it for a bit and was stumped on why it's not working...

Thanks for any help/comments!

Hey Steve, it's me again. I can take a picture of my gas latch if it will help. I don't know if it will take in the dark with a flashlight or not. I will go see........lol

Thanks if you get any pics!

There's really not that much in there. Just a black dowel that sticks out and then, the lid has a thing that catches the dowel. Hope you get it fixed.

I will check at the autoparts store tomorrow. Is it just called a gas door latch dowel or how do I explain it to them? Since I am young they trreat me with no respect and I have trouble explaining to them what I want. They under estimate my knowledge...

Thanks!

Steve, their at the autoparts store working for YOU. They has better treat you with respect or they'll be at McDonalds when you get them fired. I know all the guys here at my local Advance and their all pretty cool. Most of them race with me at Bama Dragway. Good luck though.

Soup, sometimes marriage is like a supra. The more you work at it, the smoother it runs...............lol

If only I could get my wifes car to run as smooth as our marriage. I bought her an '89 supra TTT almost a year ago it seems. She probably hasn't got to drive it two weeks. I've installed a new motor, rebuilt her tranny. Installed a new turbo. You name it, it's been fixed.

Sorry to get off topic. Good night John boy. Good night Soup..........lol
