I just got linked to this site which is a web design project: http://www.shs.lane.edu/webdesign/ryall/index.htm

This guy needs his tastes readjusted... Particularly for that Supra with blue flames (which he thinks is a 1999, btw :icon_roll )

I decided to try and enlighten him a bit (he lists his e-mail on that page) by sending him this message:

A friend of mine found your Sheldon web design project and linked me to it. From a fellow (ex)-fighting Irish, car enthusiast, and web designer I'd like to give you a few tips.

First the web design stuff. Your page isn't valid HTML. Make sure you run the HTML validator to make sure your site is compliant: http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http://www.shs.lane.edu/webdesign/ryall/index.htm

I could get into a lot of design issues but I'm assuming you're a beginner so most of the stuff you figure out as you go.

Okay, now the car stuff. Overall it seems you have a rather skewed taste in cars (or rather modded cars). Most the cars you listed on your site are made fun of for the mods that they have on them. The term given them is "rice". You can read up about it here: http://www.riceboypage.com (outdated, but good definitions and examples) and here: http://www.ricecop.com

To save time I'm just going to discuss the Toyota Supra that you listed (particularly the one with blue flames), since the Supra is my favorite car (and I own one). Here are the reasons why people in the Supra community feel that that car is a disgrace:

1. Flames are lame
2. Lowered too much (no point, looks awful)
3. Ugly body kit (certainly doesn't help the performance at all)
4. Ugly wing that probably adds too much drag anyway
5. Ugly wheels with incorrect offset

Now on to your description, and I quote: "Sitting on airbags and 17 in. chrome wheels this 1999 Toyota Supra looks great with its gray/silver paint job and custom blue falmes. It has a inline turbo 6 clyinder, this gives it amazing power putting up at the top of the list for fastest cars on the web site."

1. Those wheels are obviously bigger than 17", probably 18's or 19's
2. The Supra wasn't produced in 1999 in the US (last year was 1998). In fact, you can tell from the headlights and front turn signals that the one pictured is a 1993.5-1996
3. That Supra does not look great in that paint job... *barf*
4. falmes = flames
5. clyinder = cylinder
6. Just cause it's an inline-6 turbo doesn't put it at the top. It's because of the specific engine that it is... "Fastest" depends on what you're measuring anyway. Chances are with that suspension setup that car would suck in both a drag race and anything involving cornering/curves

Hopefully I didn't come off as too harsh. Just wanted to enlighten you a bit. You wouldn't want to become an ignorant ricer yourself, would you? If you're in to Supras check out http://www.supramania.com for some nice examples of the machines.

Well done.

That Silver Supe almost made me puke all over my computer. The owner should be hung, drowned, racked, or some other long, painful means of death. ;)

Anyway, I hate to be too hard on him if he's a beginner, but my very first site was fully valid HTML and looked really sweet IMO. But that siite is ass-ugly. Ewww.
