ok, in the spring my gauge went fucky, seached the site and found out that i needed to take the sender out of the tank and fix the little metal piece that rubs on the copper wound contact and everything was great. then this week my gauge said i was empty, so i filled it up but the gauge only read 3/4 of a tank. took the sender out again and made sure that there was contact across the entire span, put it back in and same thing. is there any other problems that could cause this??? it drives me nuts not knowing how much gas i got. thanks

Find the right wire in the fuel sender connector and ground it with the key on, the gauge needle should move all the way to the top, then remove the ground wire and the gauge should move all the way to the bottom (or its the opposite i cannot remember) but either way it will tell you if your gauge itself is functioning properly or not.
