this sucks... i have a new problem with the fog light re-rig.

i own an '88.

first off, i grounded the green/white wire coming out of the f/l relay, and hooked up the other end to the cig lighter fuse holder.

My problem seems to be situated in the switch panel.

Diagram of when the fog light wire is hooked up to the red/black cruise wire:

WHAT GOES WRONG: i cannot turn the fog lights on independantly. when i turn them on in conjunction with the headlights, they go on fine, but when i turn them off, the headlights also go off.

Diagram of when the fog light wire is hooked up to the white/black defroster wire:

WHAT GOES WRONG: The fog light switch simply controls the brights! the normal brights switch overrides the fog light switch, though.

if i can help you help me, just let me know. thanks for anything in advance.

Yes, you spliced the wrong wires.

You don't need to ground anything. You need to apply a power source other than headlights to the control side of the relay. I used the the green light under the dash that comes on when the door is open. Then the fog lights are completely independent of anything, becuase that wire is B+, not switched.

Grounding the switch seperately won't hurt anything, it just isn't necessary.
