Thought you guys might like to know that I have fixed (re-charged) my A/C successfully with R12a freon substitute called "Maxi-Frig" off eBay. Supposedly it is compatible with the R12 oil so you just put it in and go. I opted to first put in a bottle of stop-leak so hopefully it will last more than a year like it usually does. Cost me about $40 for the guage, nipples, connectors, R12a, etc.
