I was wondering if anyone has put exhaust header wrap all the way down there downpipe? And if so did they pick up horsepower or torque?

Remember to wear long sleeves, the wrap has fiberglass in it to help it seal. You are supposed to soak it in water before wrapping so it seals better. Wrap it tight, and you will have great results.

I've done it too. I didn't know about the water soaking either. I may try that next time I take it off the be ceramic coated. My DP's been coated in 1500* ceramic paint and the header wrap has a heavy layer of 1500* header wrap paint. Nice and cool by the DP, may 1/2 HP gain. You won't feel a gain off of doing this, it's mainly for those people who don't like to be awash in a wave of heat every time they pop the hood.

Ceramic coating does NOT work better than header wrap.

Here is the proof.

Ceramic coat guys, reach down and touch your downpipe. I can touch mine after a hard pull with the car still running. Header wrap is FTW.

Well... are you touching the metal near or under your wrap or the wrap itself? The wrap material isn't going to feel searing hot like the metal is. I wouldn't attempt to touch any bare metals under the hood after a stint of flogging on the car, except for maybe everything after the cold side of the IC and before the lower intake runners.

I have heat wrap on my downpipes but it still feels like the sun under there. I guess that's what I get for having two turbos and downpipes right there.

I have had headers coated instead of wrapped. That worked too, so I don't know about your opinion there. I could touch the manifold while running. Not for very long of course.

Did you guys do ceramic coating/painting yourself? Or is that something that has to be done by a shop or somewhere else? My turbos are going to have to come off for a bit for rebuild and I was thinking about taking care of a few other things with my setup while I have it off the car.

I bought a set of headers for a different car. They came that way, it wasn't something I did. There are other cars besides the Supra you know. ;)

But I remember a thread about having them coated, and the temp drops. It was pretty good.

I assumed you were referring to your Supra. Sorry.

I'll look into the coating though. It sounds worth it. I noticed the difference immediately after switching setups. The heat wrap doesn't seem to be doing a whole lot of anything.
