birthday is coming up and i'd like to throw an exhaust on the supra (without paying $500). it's NA right now, so i'm going for a 2.5 inch dia. i know mdc has a DIY kit, but i still have to find a muffler and any of the brand names really push the price tag up again. does anyone have info/advice?

ideally i'd like to look stock but have a deeper note (like my gf's aw11 with hks exhaust).

anyone want to share their setup?

iirc, hks made a 3" with a stock-looking muffler. don't remember the name, and don't remember if it came in 2.5" either. does it?

I purchased cooleze 3" pipes + a magnaflow muffler, i can't remember the exact model right now (if you search my thread you can probably find it) but it was 3" in, and dual 2.5" out, it is a flow through design (no baffles to go around) It sounds real nice and deep, i'm running it on my NA right now, it is a bit loud though I'd recommend getting a resonator as well if you're concerned with that.

Probably only need a couple mandrel U bends at the most.More than likely you'll just need one, and like 10ft of straight piping and a muffler, maybe a resonator. Im sure Brent can hook you up.

Usually two 90 degree bends are enough, the 180 U bend pipes are usually too wide to make fit right.

At least in my experience.

I'd recommend the pipe that Summit sells where one end is flared out. This way you can slip one end in, and slide it around till you find the perfect angle, then mark it with a marker.

I got an N/A. I had a muffler shop do a 3" straight pipe (and it is the straightest possible piping) from the headers back with 1 resonator and a HKS Hi Power Muffler. Trust me its a very nice low note at idle and its a monster at high rpms. -Note- You can still hear the radio while doin 6000rpm and thats good enough for me =]
