Ok, i put some prestone super cleaner in the radiator, followed the directions and filled with water. Went to take it for its maiden voyage to the exhaust shop and the temp sensor shoots up to red! My water pump seems fine along with my clutch fan. No white smoke is billowing from my DP any suggestions? Oh and there was foam in my radiator as well.

Chocolate milk looking foam? If so its prolly a BHG. I'm guessing the cleaner stuff either A clogged something OR B it knocked loss some stuff that had been collecting for 20+ years and gave you some holes somewhere.

I should also mention that it overheats at idle with water . More specifically the meter goes to directly to red when it starts to heat up.

so the coolant temp gauge never stops, it just goes STRAIGHT to red?

sounds like your thermostat is stuck personally... but i would go and flush the whole system out, go buy one of the kits and put the little valve in the back heater hose where its at its highest so you can flush all of the water out along with being able to purge the whole system now.
