Hey I want to check my motor and see what kind of compression it has left. Just wondering what kind of numbers that I should be looking for.

n/a or turbo? Consistency is important here as well. If they are all within about 10 lbs, its encouraging. I think about 140 - 155 for turbo engines is within spec. I believe n/a's can be higher.

Its an 89 7M GTE. The clock says 233xxx and the guy told me that he replaced the motor with a JDM one. But I'm really not that sure about it. Could someone show me where to look on the motor for a code to tell what kind of motor it is. And what would the code be if it was a JDM motor.

no way to really tell if he swapped everything over...

the JDM's don't have EGR and have a different throttlebody...

Okay. I used to be a big Honda guy and all the motors where stamped with codes like b18b1 or b18c5 and you could tell some information about them.

it's on the front valve-cover.. it's a 7m-gte.. only problem there is that it was also called a 7m-gte in japan.

Okay I knew it was marked there, but wasn't sure if it was marked anywhere on the block. Thanks for confirming my question. I figure that it probably wasn't changed because everything on the car still works. Normally I've seen when people change engines that theres parts missing or stuff don't work like cruise and ac or something like that.

as far as where the block is stamped it's under the exhaust manifold towards the number 1 cylinder, but as others have said It wont tell you if it's JDM or not.
