Cold start

Hey, when i start my 1jz when its cold, the engine makes a rather strange griding/buzzing noise when i initially start the car then it goes away right after. It sometimes will also stall unless i give it a tap of gas too. What could this be? This ONLY will happen when the engine is cold.

My DD with a 4afe does somethign similar to this. Only when its really cold out though.

Can someone shed some light on this. its rather odd.. No block heater perhaps? But you really dont need a block heater for -5 degrees c.

this happens to my car, just when the engine's pretty cold, i mean like, in the morning, and im in california, its not THAT cold.

Hmm, i wonder if its anything i should worry about.. or is this something common?
