Hey, finally got a dvd player for car, 2 seperate units. Ones motorized screen, and ones the actual dvd player. Installed early today, and it worked fine but after it was all done and i went to start it nothing. I'll turn the key and the car wont crank at at all, lights will dim, and i'll hear the clicking from pass. kick panel. My car has done this before (but after 5 min. or so it'll start). Ive tried it at least 10 times in the past 8 hours and got nothing but the click. Would the dvd player cause the problem with incorrect wiring? Which is what i suspect.

The problem i believe is this;
-The dvd player screen units red wire is labeled "red power line", and the yellow cable is labeled "ignition power wire".
-The dvd player itselfs red wire is "to ignition Key", and yellow is "memory back-up 12v",
-lastly the wiring harness, yellow is "12 volt battery/constant (12v+), and red is "12 volt ignition/switched (12v+)

Now ive installed a handful of cd players before and the colors/descriptions always matched up but the dvd player screen looked like it didnt. So i connected the 2 red "ignition" wires from DVD player+ wire harness, to the yellow wire from dvd player screen (since it said ignition), then i connected the 2 yellow wires from dvd player + wiring harness, to the red wire from the dvd player screens red wire(Now i know the colors are supposed to match but the description didnt) I turned key so dvd player would come on and not the car, and it played fine. Locked up and put everything up, then went to start the car NOTHING! Im guessing its those two wires from the dvd screen thats doing it but would those two wires really not cause the car to start? Or do you think its something else? The car was also in 2nd gear most of the time since dvd player wouldnt fit unless shifter was that far back, possible problem? Any ideas are welcome, and anyone to fix this +1 (its cold as hell outside and this was a pita to do, so i didnt try switching wires yet, and any ideas that will keep me from freezing would be best :hs: thanks,

fuses? starter solnoid on its way out? That clicking is a start relay in the kickpanel.Check your battery voltage.Extreems of temps causes batteries to loose their charges faster than at "normal" temps.

Ok just got back in and the battery voltage is good,tried charging, still no crank, fuses all good, and i took dvd player out still no start. Tried rocking car, and starting in neutral for a while still noting.

im done with this car, its gonna be parked outisde and have to endure the winter weather conditions until i get back in may. I have no desire to fix this thing now, b/c of money, and time. Going to have to call out of work for 2 weeks.

Nah, I removed my stock alarm system a month ago. So that elimates a potential problem. Cant wait until i rebuild this thing in the spring to beat the hell outta these parts + (rip/cut/burn)gaskets that gave me problems.
