I noticed the same problem with the Royal Purple synthetic when I fist put it into my tranny. The shifts got notchy and slight grinding. I switched over to Pennzoil 80-90 and it shift beautiful now.

I take by the first post that this was now RP Syncromax which is made for MT? Has anyone had experience with this stuff?

Synchomax is recommended for manual transmissions that specify automatic transmission fluid, multi-viscosity motor oil or straight grade motor oil...Synchromax is much lower viscosity (less than half at ops temp) than what the TRSM calls for (an 80W-90). Personally, I would not use it in either a W58 or R154...it's simply too thin.

Not a good idea to use in a Supra tranny...way too thin. Use Red Line MT-90...much better choice if you want to use a syn tranny oil. The Pennzoil 80W-90 Tim is using above is a good choice as well.
