aren't house keys different from car keys? they didn't show anything about car doors or ignition.

Car keys are double sided tumblers while a house is usually just one sided.

Our supras locks are so old and worn another supras key usually opens it anyway. My key was able to open 2 supras in my HS parking lot, my cousins old MKII and another random MKIII at safeway. I didnt take anything I was just experimenting.

My Eagle key opens almost all early 90's Jeeps, Craftsman lawnmowers, my friends 97 Suburban... I cant even remember what else, its like a master key. and My supra key works on Ford rangers.

This is exactly why I keep a club (locks brake and steering wheel) on the car at all times and rarely drive it.

I've started a Ford Ranger with another Ford Ranger key where I work. The guy came outside and asked if the other key started his Ranger. And then said he'd need to invest in a good alarm system.

matt's (gottoyota?) keys got locked inside of his car at 2k6, it took us about 7 minutes to find another supra key that would open the door...

Yeah, that's quite disturbing.
This PDF file is really interesting: www.toool.nl/bumping.pdf
I tried it myself a couple of days ago with a standard lock I had laying around. Took one of the keys that came with it and filed it down with "key files" from a DIY store.
I couldn't quite get it to work with the "minimal movement" method described in the PDF (the lock I tested with is probably just too cheap), but it worked perfectly by inserting the the bump key completeley into the lock, pulling it out again by one tooth and then slapping it with my finger and turning it at the same time. Needs a bit of practice to get the timing right, but I can now easily open my test lock with this bump key, without any other tools needed.

Haven't tried it with real world locks yet, but with my test lock it's a nice way to make people go "hmmmmm" ;)
