do you need to have the breather line for the 7mgte power steering pump? is there any way to get rid of it?

Since the is no "breather line" for the PS pump, you might want to describe what you're talking about if you want an answer. A link to the TSRM would be very helpful.
i'm going to assume he's talking about the two vacuum lines that run the PPS part of the PS system. If that is the case. I threw mine out. I still have Powersteering but no PPS, which I have't really noticed a difference.
The vac lines that connect to the valve screwed into the PS pump has nothing to do with PPS. It is the low speed idle up for making hard turns at idle. 
If your rack was PPS...it is still working (unless you have another issue).
