i am looking to rebuild my stock auto trans. i am going to go with a new OEM torque converter (maybe) and much larger cooler but, would like to know about suggested retailers for a rebuild kit. i would like to replace the clutches with reybestos blue or brown and most everything else i will use OEM parts.
i know the IPT makes great transmissions and also offers rebuild kits but, both are extremely pricey. Not looking to break any records just something to give nice firm shifts and handle up to 450ish rwhp.
also, if anyone has a suggestion on a torque converter that is a little more robust than the OEM replacement but, keeps a stock or slightly higher stall.
thanks

i have a couple of shops offering " high performance Alto red frictions" and alto performance steels. Any words of wisdom or experience with these? Some others have mentioned using the Raybestos OEM style rebuild kit with a larger cooler. i want to rebuild it myself, just trying to get the best bang for the buck. thanks
